2015 APEC-BPT/ABBS Conference were successfully hold by Green Energy Development Center

The 2015 APEC Conference on Promoting Innovative and High Value-added Bio-product Production Technologies for Sustainable Development (APEC-BPT 2015) and 10th Asia Biohydrogen and Biorefinery Symposium (ABBS) were successfully hold by Green Energy Development Center (GEDC) of Feng Chia University, Taiwan and Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam during September 21-24, 2015 in Ken-Ting, Pingtung, Taiwan. The conference and symposium were financially supported mainly by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Taiwan with the main topic of “Sustainable Development and Advanced BioHydrogen Technologies”. The objective of the activities was to offer the exchange platform and mechanism of international researches in bioenergy and biohydrogen.

The Opening Ceremony was hosted by Dr. Shu-Yi Wu (Dean of College of Engineering, Feng Chia University) and Dr. Chiu-Yue Lin (Director of Green Energy Development Center, Feng Chia University). The domestic and foreign government officers were invited as special guests: Mr. Shen-Da Fuh (senior researcher of MOST), Dr. Ping-Huei Shu (senior advisor of Ministry of Economic Affairs) and Dr. Enny Sudarmonowati (Vice-President of LIPI, Indonesia). The discussion meetings of International Energy Agency Hydrogen Working Group IEA-HIA Task 34 and Asia BioHyLinks (ABHL) were convened at 21st afternoon. Dr. Ling-Hui Chen and Dr. Chung-Hsien Chen (Deputy Director General and Section Chief of Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan) attended the meeting.

     There were around 180 scholars, experts, and students from 15 countries participated in the conference and symposium: Britain, China, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Netherlands, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, the United States, and Taiwan. There were about 90 academic articles presented either in oral or post. The technical tour left for visiting Pintung University of Science and Technology, Pingtung Agriculture Biotechnology Park, and Taiwan Banana Research Institute in 24th morning. All participants had a great harvest in the conference topics and a great time in technical tour.   

     The conference became one of the region’s largest events of 2015 in the field of Sustainable Development and Advanced Biohydrogen Technologies. The Symposium successfully provided a great opportunity to share research experiences in what has happened, be part of what is happening to influence the future direction in one of the fastest growing industry.
